Editorial Policy
Last updated: September 1, 2026
GrowCents is an independent publisher of educational content about family budgeting, saving money, frugal living, money challenges, and money tools. This policy explains who writes GrowCents, how we research and fact-check content, and what standards every article follows before publication.
Who writes GrowCents
GrowCents is written by Sam, an independent publisher. Sam is not a certified financial planner, accountant, tax professional, lawyer, or licensed investment advisor, and does not claim any financial credentials, licenses, or professional experience he does not hold. GrowCents is not a financial institution, advisory firm, or team of certified financial professionals.
How We Research
Every article follows the same process before publication:
- Primary sources first. Government pages, consumer-protection resources, and official program documentation are used ahead of secondary summaries or other blogs.
- Fact vs. opinion, clearly separated. Verified information is distinguished from GrowCents’ own suggestions, worked examples, or framework recommendations.
- No invented data. We never fabricate statistics, studies, quotes, experts, surveys, or first-hand experience. If a detail cannot be verified, it is left out rather than guessed at.
- Variability is flagged. Rules around taxes, credit, debt, government benefits, and financial products change and differ by situation; articles say so explicitly instead of implying a single answer fits everyone.
Editorial independence
GrowCents content reflects our own research and editorial judgment. Where the site includes advertising (including Google AdSense) or affiliate links, that relationship never determines which topics we cover or what an article concludes.
